Cuisine Italian
Servings 2 bases

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Plain flour
  • 220 mL Warm water
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tsp Yeast
  • 1 tsp Caster sugar
  • 1 tsp Sea salt
  • Extra drizzle of olive oil for oiling the bowl

Instructions

  • Combine the yeast, sugar and water in a small bowl and mix well. Leave for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Sift flour and salt into a large bowl. Make a well. Pour the yeast mixture and first measure of oil into the well and form into a dough.
  • Transfer to a clean, floured surface and knead for around 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. If too sticky add a little flour or if too dry add a little water
  • Place the dough in a clean lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a damn tea towel and leave to rest in a warm place for around 45 minutes or until doubled in size and puffed up.
  • Remove from the bowl and split the dough in half. Shape into pizza bases.

Notes

Meal prep tip: Double the dough mixture and once rolled out into bases wrap extras in plastic wrap and pop in the freezer. Now you are prepared for homemade pizzas when in need of a quick or lazy meal.
Nutrition tip: To boost the fibre in these bases you can make 1/2 and 1/2 plain to wholemeal flour.
Gluten free: Substitute wheat flour for an all purpose gluten free flour
