Description

This isn’t just any course. Over the decades we have figured out what works and more importantly what doesn’t. We know as an athlete you are time poor so we have done away with those long information overloaded PowerPoint presentations and moved towards “bite-sized” content – videos, infographics and blogs that you can “snack” on during those brief pockets of time you get throughout your day – yes we just doubled down on the nutrition puns there!

Our Preseason Rugby Nutrition Course is made up of 6 modules that will equip you with nutrition knowledge and skills to set you up to smash your preseason performance goals, getting you ready for the competitive season ahead. We cover:

High Performance Habits

We share some of the fundamental habits that are shared by many successful athletes. These basic habits may not be cutting edge stuff but they are key to establishing a solid nutrition foundation to build on. Many players focus on chasing those 1%ers, like supplements, when they have not yet nailed the basics. You will see far more return on investment if you start having breakfast everyday and eating consistent meals and snacks than any supplement!

Fuelling Performance

A well fuelled body can train harder for longer. A well fuelled brain is more focussed and can react quicker. In this module we take you through how, when and what to eat (and/or drink) before and during exercise so you can perform at your best both physically and mentally.

Recovery Nutrition

Nutrition plays a key role in how well your body recovers. In this module we run you through why having a recovery nutrition strategy is essential for a) making sure you turn up in the best condition for your next training session or game and b) supporting adaptation – what makes you a fitter, faster player. We also unpack Fuel My Potential’s 4 R’s of Recovery Nutrition – 4 key goals and proven strategies to ensure your body has all the nutrients it needs to rebuild, repair and adapt.

Hydration

Hydration is one of the most overlooked and undervalued areas of performance nutrition. But that stops now! In this module we share why hydration is vital to health and performance. We also take you through how to identify dehydration and some simple but effective strategies that can help you stay hydrated during preseason and performing at your best!

Optimising Body Composition for Performance

Preseason is often the time where the pressure gets laid on for players to manipulate their body composition to get fitter, faster and stronger. Often this pressure leads to unrealistic goals and extreme, and in many cases dangerous, measures to achieve them. In this module we break down what body composition is and how it is relevant to rugby players. Plus share how to set realistic goals and some safe but effective nutrition strategies to achieve them without harming yourself in the process.

Supplements

Now, there is a reason why we have kept these guys till last. That is because supplements should be seen as the “sprinkles on top of the cake” – the final ingredient added to your nutrition plan, not the first! Unfortunately, this is not often the case! In this module we unpack the controversial topic of sports supplements. We take you through what supplements are, the risks and how to mitigate them. We show you how you can build them into your performance nutrition plan and shine a light on a few supplements that could be beneficial for rugby players during preseason.

Don’t leave your preseason nutrition to chance! Sign up to our Preseason Rugby Nutrition Course. Arm yourself with the knowledge and skills that you need to train harder, think quicker, recover faster and smash your preseason goals. Let’s go!
